Claude Sonnet 5 is Anthropic's mid-tier Sonnet model, released June 30, 2026 and pitched as the most agentic Sonnet so far. Anthropic says it plans, drives tools such as browsers and terminals, and works on its own at a level close to Opus 4.8. Anthropic's docs now list it as a legacy model that remains available.
